Retro Sketches 182 U R Awesome Card

Quick card from earlier in the week, because I was itching to make something, but not wanting to spend a lot of time making it because I've been busy at work.

I'd normally choose to spell out "you are," but I decided to do "U R" to conserve (i.e., hoard) the gold foil letter stickers. The "awesome" is die cut from Bazzill gold foil cardstock.

SUPPLIES:

Paper: black paper from a big pack from Costco years ago; Staples 8.5 x 11 white cardstock; Bazzill metallic gold paper
Embellishments: Queen & Co black dotted washi tape; Wilton baking doily from Jo-Ann; Heidi Swapp flower sticker; Freckled Fawn pink/white/gold washi tape; Pinkfresh Studio glitter washi tape; Pinkfresh Studio gold heart puffy sticker; Chic Tags gold letter stickers
Tools: Pinkfresh Studio "awesome" metal die; Becky Higgins Southern Wedding embossing folder

Parker at 7 Months Old

Lots of pictures this month, including several of him sleeping. I had a hard time leaving any out, because I think he's just so cute!

Little blurry, because this was the best I could get, but Parker with his birthday twin, Domenic:

Look at how much he's grown - he used to be so little in the swing!

Asleep in the carrier. I don't remember where we were though . . .

Another sleeping picture, because he's so cute and I can't resist:

  • He's getting close to crawling. He's rocking on his knees more and more, and can scoot his way around.
  • He can sit up by himself now!
  • When I carry him, he knows how to hang on better now if I hold him with one arm, by hooking his arm around mine. A few months ago, it was a risk that he'd fall backwards if I didn't support him.
  • He recognizes people more now, and gets boo hoo face with people he's not used to seeing as often (even my dad and Greg's mom, etc.).
  • He does a good amount of gabbing/talking.
  • He still drools a lot, but doesn't seem to spit up so much anymore. Hooray!
  • We noticed over Labor Day weekend that his two bottom teeth are poking through his gums.

Halloween 2014 Layout

Now that it is September, Halloween rolls around next month (!). I scrapbooked the photos of Evelyn in her Tinkerbell costume from last year towards the tail end of my maternity leave earlier in the year. There were too many photos I wanted to use, so I ended up with a very photo-heavy layout with a small embellished strip. To go with the green in her costume, I chose to use mostly green embellishments.

There weren't many trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. When we left our house to take Evelyn around the neighborhood, we actually left a handful of candy bars at the front door (we bought full-size candy bars), and either none or only one of them were taken when we got back. Part of the reason we buy full-size candy bars? Because we know there's not many trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood, so the ones that do stop by our house get legit candy.

At three, Evelyn didn't last that long trick-or-treating. We made it to maybe three or four houses, before she said she had to go potty, at which point we headed home. Those wings also didn't stay on very long. We made it across the street before they came off because they were itchy, and mommy (that's me) was left holding them the rest of the time.

Bitty Bag Cards

I admit, I am a use-bitty-bags-as-patterned-paper fiend. Case in point, these two cards.

The first is a navy horizontal strip middy bitty bag that I cut down on the top and right side to create a sleeve for a tabbed flat card, then heat embossed the front with gold powder. Sometimes I forget to use it, but the EK Success powder tool does help cut down on stray specks of embossing powder!

The second is a baby card where I used the gray honeycomb middy bitty bag as a base, adding a coral block on top. The focal point of the card includes an aqua scrolly square label and a fussy cut blue chick petite sticky.
