Hate on the Baby Layout

It took me forever (okay, four years) to finally scrapbook the cute baby-in-a-hat photos of Evie from this Hate on the Baby blog post.

I started with a piece of yellow ombre patterned paper and added a spot of robin's egg blue acrylic paint for journaling, as well as used a stiff paint brush to add splatter to the rest of the page. I also used acrylic paint to re-color some of the letter stickers in the title. Rather than write out the IM conversation on the layout, I printed it out, mostly because I had my doubts as to whether it would all fit if I hand-wrote it. I used a marker to journal the rest on the painted acrylic spot, but I learned that it sucked my marker dry. I went out and got some Sharpie pens to try out on future layouts.

SUPPLIES:

Paper: Echo Park (yellow ombre patterned paper)
Embellishments: American Crafts (letter stickers), My Mind's Eye (letter and word stickers), Pinkfresh Studio (wood veneer letter and shapes, epoxy frame, canvas tag, watercolor cards, scallop puffy stickers, heart sequins, washi tape), Evalicious (flair, puffy stickers)
Ink: Jo-Ann (robin's egg blue acrylic paint)

Die Cut Leaf Thank You Card

I've been in a scrapbooking (and minimal blogging) mood lately, but I made this card a few months ago using the leaf die from the March 2015 Pinkfresh Studio kit, along with a watercolored panel of white cardstock.

All those die cut leaves were actually a bit painstaking to glue on to the card! Heh.

Parker's Six Month Photo

Little bit more on time with these six month pictures. Holla.

He was pretty squirmy for these pictures, so I had to be fast and didn't get him straightened out on the blanket.

Similar to Evie's monthly photos, I'm taking monthly photos of Parker until 12 months: Parker's Monthly Photos.

Parker's Five Month Photo

Finally getting these five month photos up, the ones I had to re-take before we went to Montana because my phone had gotten reset (:/).

In the bottom picture, Greg's trying to get Parker to smile for the picture, which is why he is looking off to the side.

Parker at 6 Months Old

Grandma and Grandpa's new kitty was after the ping pong ball:

About to go on a hike up Woodbine:

Getting fed sweet potatoes by daddy. Evelyn commented that daddy wasn't good at feeding him. Ha!

At Sunsplash. He feel asleep once we got settled in the lazy river.

Sun's out, guns out. I thought this was more hilarious than maybe I should have after we watched 22 Jump Street a few months ago. I stenciled this onto a white onesie after cutting the stencil out of freezer paper with my Silhouette. The freezer paper worked pretty well as a stencil after being ironed on to the onesie. And with the Comic Sans font, to boot.

Laughing at daddy:

  • Still lots of: talking, drooling, getting better at grabbing, and getting better at rolling/moving around.
  • Still happy and laughs a lot when daddy tickles his neck.
  • Getting better at getting on his knees and rocking back and forth.
  • No more swaddling at all when he sleeps at night.
  • Got his first haircut. We just did it ourselves at home and for funsies, gave him a mohawk.
  • Is now consistently sleeping through the night. Yay! Usually about 8:00ish at night to 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning.
  • I finally fit back into my normal work shoes and my rings!

Parker at 5 Months Old

Five months seemed more of a month of getting better at things (better at grabbing, tummy time, rolling, smiling/laughing, etc.)

His hair starting to get too long to stand straight up:

Found his feet!

Just can't keep his eyes open.

Looking all serious while sucking his thumb and riding in the car up in Montana:

  • He found his feet (last week of June) though, as evidenced by the increased amount of feet-grabbing that occurred.

  • He's generally a happy, easy, and chill baby. Perhaps even a bit more than Evie on the sleeping front.

  • We went to Montana for a week, starting with the 4th of July weekend. Parker did pretty well on the plane, only getting a bit fussy because he was bored.

Smile This is the Life Layout

Back in April, we went to the Children's Museum, where they'd put in a photo booth since the last time we were there. I'm a fan of photo booths, but at first I didn't want to spend the money on it. Greg inserted his credit card anyway and basically said the photo booth was happening, whether I was in the picture or not. Heh.

The pictures came out cute and I'm glad we got them. Parker's expressions in the pictures are hilarious! Greg said not everything Parker does is hilarious, but I beg to differ.

    Parker at 4 Months Old

I have been a lazy blogging mommy. Parking is coming up on six months old and I have yet to blog his four and five month posts.

    Evelyn playing with Parker:

Asleep in the hotel in Vegas, all swaddled up:

Talkin' to Evie's Roo, also on the Valley of Fire side trip:

Waiting for Evie to finish her swim lesson:
Parker at 4 Months Old | shirley shirley bo birley Blog

    • Went to Vegas! While Greg stayed back to work one day (questionable as to how much work he actually got done, but whatevs), Evie, Parker, and I tagged along on a side trip to the Valley of Fire state park.
    • One of the daycare teachers said that she puts Parker in the crib with his pacifier, snuggled up with a blankie, and he falls asleep without rocking. I tried it at home and it works pretty well! I can now put him down to sleep in his crib without rocking him to sleep. I'm not sure if he would've done that by himself anyway or he learned it at daycare, but it doesn't matter either way.
    • No more swaddling of his arms (at least not towards later in the month). I still put the swaddle around his torso though. At this point, it doesn't seem to affect how long or well he sleeps at night. I didn't realize how short a period of time the swaddles would be in use.
    • His hands seem to have found each other; I see him holding his own hands more often.
    • He gets really excited when I take off or put on his clothes. Who knows why, but it's cute.
    • He also gets really excited when we tickle his neck, blow on his face, and/or jiggle his tushie.
    • His hair continues to be crazy.
    • Has grown much in the last few months. There were these light blue striped pants that were big on him when he first came home that I had to roll the legs up, but now he's starting to outgrow them.
    • Started to roll from his back to his stomach the first week of June.
    • I would've had more pictures of Parker for this post, but I made the mistake of leaving my phone unattended with Evelyn, who typed the wrong password in 10 times because she didn't know what she was doing (obviously), and my phone reset to factory settings, including wiping all the photos. It wasn't as bad as it could've been - I only last a month's worth of photos and about four months of locally stored Instagram photos, but still upsetting.
