1/12/2014: She didn't want to get up from her nap this afternoon and snuggled back under her blankie. I even tried to persuade her with a "What if mommy holds you?" and and it didn't work!

1/19/2014: New-to-her Legos from a friend whose son had outgrown them. I imagine this is like me falling asleep clutching pretty scrapbook paper that I just got. #legos

Through the Instagram Lens - December 2013

Back in December, I decided to give Instagram a try, even though I had originally resisted another social media outlet. All my friends were doing it though!

I've posted a lot more "in the moment" pictures of Evie on Instagram than here on the blog (though I have an Instagram widget), so I wanted to do a blog post of the Evie Instagrams I've posted (and maybe some other noteworthy Instagrams thrown in there).

12/24/2013: Future crafter in the making. She saw me stamping and wanted to participate - good thing she was gifted her own little stamp set from her cousins!

12/25/2013: 3...2...1...hiss, wahhhhhhh. She just wants to love the kitties!

12/26/2013: Woke up because her legs hurt and wanted to be held "like a baby." I'll miss it when she stops asking to be held like a baby. :(

12/28/2013: Daddy took a bite of her #yorkpeppermintpatty. It was tragic in the eyes of a 2.5 year old lusting after candy.

Life Documented Layout

Another layout of Evie that I finished the other week.




The top right is mostly tags from Elle's Studio, with various embellishments added to the pennants. Glittery "E" on the bottom left is a wood letter from Pink Paislee that I inked with blue ink and covered with a couple layers of blue Stickles. I sat on this layout for a while because I was trying to think of what to do with the white spaces and was feeling pretty "meh" about the layout, but now that it's done, I like how it turned out.

Retro Sketches 105 Hello Speech Bubble Card

Quick card from the weekend for this week's Retro Sketch:



I originally wanted the gold at the bottom to be painted, but then I realized I didn't have gold acrylic paint on hand, so I used gold glitter instead. Scrappy Tape (which is a cheaper alternative to Scor-Tape) works pretty well for keeping glitter adhered. The base patterned paper is Teresa Collins > Tell Your Story > Tickets (the B side with the grid, which is all I've used so far and I think I should get more at the rate that I'm using it . . .). I cut out one of the speech bubble pairs from Carta Bella > Hello Again > Chit Chat patterned paper and stamped with "hello" since the speech bubbles were blank.

You're My Sweetheart Layout

Finished this layout the other night and it felt good because I started this layout back in September.





I used the Silhouette to cut out the song lyric (modified slightly because the song is actually "belong with" instead of "belong to"). The lyric is cut from My Mind's Eye > Collectable > Unforgettable > Today patterned paper. The base patterned paper is Carta Bella > So Noted > Always You patterned paper, but I used the photo of Evie to cover up the "Always You" printed in the frame.
