Evie Love Layout

Layout of a "just because" picture of Evie that I finished recently:

I'm quite happy with how it turned out. I liked the Elle's Studio patterned paper from the You and Me collection (found in this paper pack, but I was able to get single sheets from the scrapbook store), and the fun part was that the B-side of the extra strip at the bottom had little sentiment banners that I cut out and used as embellishments on the layout. I also used some other Elle's Studio tags, as well as did some stamping, added a bit of Hambly silver lace overlay cut into chevrons, and used a rainbow of Glimmer Mist colors on the outer edges of the layout.

Painterly Palette Tuesday Trigger Card

Made a quick card during Evie's nap today for this week's Tuesday Trigger at Moxie Fab World - A Painterly Palette:

(Originally from the Painting the rainbow post at oh my little dears)

Here's my card:

After I put together the background of torn cardstock strips (colors drawn from the Trigger photo), I dabbed white acrylic paint over a mask to get the pattern. I wanted to keep the rest of the card simple, so I just added a stamped sentiment, wood veneer birdie, and matted/mounted on a white.

And lest Greg think I didn't do anything today - I also did the dishes, vacuumed the tile area, took Evie out for errands in the morning that involved finishing the blackout curtains in her room, took her swimming in the afternoon, and did another load of laundry.

Potty Training Water Baby

Evie's well on her way to being potty trained!

Last Thursday night, Evie deliberately went in her little potty training toilet (this BABYBJĂ–RN potty chair). A while ago, we also bought this potty training seat for the regular toilet in anticipation of potty training down the road. I installed it that night (it was super quick to put on) and the next morning, Evie went on the big potty.

I could tell that they'd been practicing at daycare because she knew what she was doing. WHEW. I think this potty training thing is turning out to be easier than I imagined, but of course, we're not done yet. The daycare said that if the rest of this week goes well (which I think it has), then we should send her to daycare next week with underwear (and also 4 extra sets of clothes). For consistency purposes, they recommended not putting diapers or even pull-ups on her at home, the idea of which is kind of scary to me. Does this mean I will be cleaning up accidents at home? Probably. Good thing the green machine is ready to go at a moment's notice.

In other news, Evie loves swimming. She's gotten especially adventurous in the water after a couple of visits with friends whose kids (older than Evie) are already swimming. She likes to jump into the water from the steps and "swim" to me or Greg. I use the word "swim" loosely because she hasn't quite mastered the coordinated movements that would constitute swimming, so she ends up just flailing in the water until we scoop her up. But it's progress!

Wood Veneer Birdie Thank You Card

I sent out the latest batch of cards for a card exchange last week, and they should've made it to their destinations by now, so here is my card for the exchange:

Pinterest definitely came in useful for inspiration. I'm a fan of those My Mind's Eye patterned papers from the Collectable Unforgettable line. I also used some washi tape (including metallic ones from our most recent trip to Maido in San Jose). Wood veneer birdies from Studio Calico - they've been sitting in my supplies for a few months, unused until this project.

I recently finished a "manly" quilt for Greg, but have yet to take pictures of it for blogging purposes. It's backed with striped minky and it's pretty comfy; I'm jealous. I just started working on a chevron quilt for myself, so that I don't have to steal his.

Happy Birthday Card with Project Life Olive Edition Papers

I forgot to blog this card I made a few months ago for a card exchange, and was reminded of it when I started making cards for the upcoming exchange:

I used the Silhouette to cut the circle grids. The patterned paper for the insides of the circle grids is from the Project Life Olive Edition 12x12 paper pack. I also got the Olive Edition core kit at the same time since they were both on sale. I'm planning on using the Project Life kit to scrapbook Evie's monthly baby photos and blog posts; I'd like to do a 2-page spread for each month and I figured the kit would help me keep a unified look and simplify the process by going with a "standard" layout to use for each month.
