Evie's 2nd Birthday at Daycare

At daycare, they post a sign on the easel out front for each child's birthday. I took a picture of Evie in front of the sign on her 1st birthday (look at how bald she is!) and this year, Greg took some pictures of Evie in front of the sign on her 2nd birthday. Greg narrated the pictures for me in person, which I don't think I can do justice in writing, but here's my version of captions for the photos:

Ooh, look dada, it's a sign for my birthday! I only know because you told me, not because I can read yet:

Yeahhhhhhh sign:

Ooh, what a nice flower down there:

Ooh, nice flowers up here too. So nice that I must touch them. With my eyes half-closed:

Uh ohhhhhhh, dada. They fell on the ground. Through no fault of my own. Completely by themselves:

Let me do them a solid and pick them up off the ground:

Here, dada! Fix the uh-oh!

I'll just keep my hands to myself now, lest we have another "Flowergate":

Maybe I'll scrapbook these photos with captions at some point . . .

Father's Day 2013 Card

One-layer stamped card for Father's Day this year:

The stamps used to build the background came from Iconic Images and the frame and sentiment from Fillable Frames #4, all from Papertrey Ink.

Tangent:

Greg informed me yesterday that Feedly can now be accessed via the web. Yay! Before, having a plug-in was the only option, which made it difficult to use on PCs that I didn't have admin control over.

I also saw on the Feedly blog that there are now (maybe there were before and I just didn't know) keyboard shortcuts that do exactly what I've been wanting!

"Did You Poop?" and Minions Banana Song

Episode 4 of Convos With My 2 Year Old - "The Check":

Parent: Did you poop?
2-year-old: No
Parent: Are you sure?
2-year-old: No
Parent: Okay, let me check.

Ah . . . "The Check" is a familiar scene in our house, which is what makes it funny. Only it usually ends up being that there is poop. And it stinks. And I change the stinky, poopy diaper more often than not.

I still think Episode 1 is the funniest though.
"You can't talk to her right now . . . because I'm talking to her right now."
"No. She's not your wife. She's the princess."
"Okay. So she's playing with me. So you just [dismissive hand wave] go over there right now . . . Look at how much fun we're having."

To better understand why this song is funny, you also have to watch this short from the bonus features of the first Despicable Me movie:

Apple

Evie likes to eat her apples whole (I suspect that she'd throw a tantrum at this stage if I tried to cut up an apple for her). When she sees apples around (like on TV, in books, at the grocery store), she'll exclaim, "Apple!", such as in the second picture below:

I love my cutie patootie Evie.

Evie's First Dentist Visit

I took Evie to her first dentist visit a couple of weeks ago. It was a short visit - at this age, all the dentist basically did was look at her teeth, brush them, apply some fluoride, and give me some advice for keeping her teeth clean and healthy. Evie was very good for the dentist (i.e., no freaking out), which I'm sure makes his job easier. Before the dentist came in, she got to play with "Nemo" and brush his teeth with the big tooth brush.

Instead of having Evie in a chair to look at her teeth, they had Evie sit in my lap and lay back for the dentist to take a look inside her mouth:

Afterwards, Evie came away with a little turtle squirt toy and a bouncy ball. (They've apparently lost their luster now that it's been a couple weeks . . . they are strewn about the house that somehow gets crazy messy during the week).
