Postcrossing

A few months ago while I was looking at Blogger's Blogs of Note, I came across a blog for the Package Project. I thought the idea was fun and signed up to participate. After getting information about my package partner, I checked out her blog and from there, found Postcrossing.

Took me about a second to figure out that Postcrossing is right up my alley because I love postcards. I have a basket full of them, including this gem:

Pretty sure I got this postcard from Greg before we started dating. Punk. (But he's got other redeeming qualities).

Do I ever do anything with the postcards? Not really. Except acquire more. But they make me happy. And now I'm about to get more . . . because I signed up to send out five postcards (Canada, Finland, Belarus, Russia, and Germany). Sweet!

Graduation

Graduation last weekend. Although I technically graduated as well, we actually went down to Tucson to see a friend (Mike) graduate from med school and another friend (Laura) graduate from law school.

Friday
Med school graduation, then dinner at Frog & Firkin with Mike and his parents. Yummy.

Saturday
Hungry Fox for breakfast with Katie and David (who let us stay with them Friday night), then the U of A bookstore. I feel like every time we go to the U of A bookstore, we get sucked in and end up spending way too much on branded merchandise that's overpriced. Sigh. But we gotta represent, right? With our clothes, mugs, vases, badge pulls, pens, key chains, license plate covers . . . and for some lucky few, this UA-branded Snuggie!

I smell a white elephant gift!

We also saw these two books that were pretty entertaining:
Awkward Family Photos
From My Cold Dead Paws: Cats and the Guns They Love

Law school graduation in the afternoon, then dinner at Dakota Cafe, which was pretty tasty. I never knew it existed, because it's hidden in a cheesy fake old Western town called Trail Dust Town. I say it's cheesy, but actually, it was kind of fun. Heh.

As for my graduation . . . just send me my diploma, yo.

Mother's Day 2010 Cards

Mother's Day 2010: pop-up cards learned from Splitcoaststampers! They were snazzy.

Triathlon Bike Ride

Triathlon bike ride this morning!

I didn't "rack" my back yesterday when most of the other ladies from the office did, so I wanted to get there when the transition area opened this morning to do that and get ready. Did I really need to be there at 5:45 when the race started at 7:00 and I wasn't even doing the swim that came first? No. But I get paranoid like that.

My goal was to be as close to 1 hour as possible (or under, but I knew that'd be pretty optimistic) for the 13.5 miles. I ended up at about 1 hour and 5 minutes, so that was pretty decent!

I'm toying with the idea of training to do a 5K in the fall (I have the Laveen Turkey Trot in mind). I found a training plan online titled "The Couch-to-5K Running Plan." Sounds like my kind of training plan.

Melrose Vintage and Fry Bread House

Scrapbook stores don't seem to stay alive very well here in Phoenix (maybe everywhere?), but I discovered last year that Melrose Vintage on 7th Ave. and Indian School has a pretty well-stocked scrapbooking section with a lot of variety for a store that's not dedicated to scrapbooking.

Greg was so kind as to take me there yesterday - we tried to go a week or two ago, but they weren't open for the day yet and we couldn't wait. Worked out well since I needed ("needed") some supplies for the next card exchange.

Although I did get some studying for REG done yesterday, I also got a package ready to send to Greg's aunt, Kris, and made this quick tag to go with it using some papers I'd gotten earlier in the day:

(I think I will be using that butterfly punch a lot).

After Melrose Vintage, we had lunch just down the street at Fry Bread House. It's easy to miss from the street, but it's pretty delish. Tacos made out of fry bread? How can you go wrong with that combination? Just don't think about how fatty it could possibly be and you're good to go!
