Updog

Greg: Does it smell like updog in your craft room?
Shirley: . . .
I don't know what that is.
Greg: Huh?
Shirley: Updog?
Greg: Yeah?
Shirley: ?
Greg: ?
Shirley: I don't get it.
Greg: What dont you get?
Shirley: What's updog?
Greg: Nothin' much, how about you?
Shirley: Oh my gosh. You are ghetto.
But it did make me chuckle.
Greg: Lol. It's from The Office.
----------
Greg: Oh man. Someone spilled updog in the breakroom and it smells HORRIBLE.
Linda: What the heck is updog?
Greg: Nothing much! What the heck is up with you?
Linda: That's hilarious!

Guess Who is a Bona Fide CPA?!

Chaco Canyon/Santa Fe Layout

After the better part of a year, I've finally completed my Chaco Canyon/Santa Fe layout!

I had mostly finished the layout pretty early on, except for the journaling, which I couldn't decide for several months how I wanted to do without making the layout look completely blah. I ended up cutting half-circles out of white vellum, stamping it with white ink, then journaling within the curve of the half-circle. There are still some "could-have-done" thoughts about the layout, but I need to learn how to accept imperfection, otherwise I'd never finish anything.

Greg's Scrapbooking Contribution

While brainstorming designs for a Rocky Point layout, I sketched them out on a piece of paper sitting in front of my laptop:

The other day, as I was casually perusing my sketches, I noticed this in the bottom right corner:

I thought it was pretty funny that Greg drew a fake sketch on my paper. He threw in a bunch of terms: "glitter," "stickers," "crop-a-dile," "eyelets," "embossing," "embellishments." My eyes probably glossed over that sketch several times before I registered that it wasn't my sketch. Heh.

Our Display Case is Bearing Down

In a tribute to our alma mater, this crystal vase etched with the University of Arizona logo is now displayed in our glass cabinet:

We got it while we were down in Tucson a few weekends ago. Despite my taking classes at ASU, there will be no mistaking loyalties here!

I should've remembered to get a Christmas tree ornament while we were there, to add to the Karnos family Christmas tree. :)

(Geeky) Milestone

Greg and I have reached a milestone: We've finally finished watching the entire Star Trek: Voyager series! I know it sounds like a nerdy thing to do, but I suppose we are geeks at heart. I can't deny that they have been quite entertaining. We've been working through the seven seasons for probably a year or so now. It's almost kind of sort of sad that it's all come to an end . . .

We do, however, have some other entertainment lined up, for when we have the time:

  • Lord of the Rings trilogy, extended versions (we're thinking marathon format for this)
  • Band of Brothers mini series (I wish we could bump this up the list, but unfortunately, Greg already called Lord of the Rings first)
  • Enchanted on Blu-ray (Greg informed me that this got bumped to the top of the list. Boo to him. We just saw this.)
  • Who knows what else? But I better call it before Greg does.

Desktop Studio and Card Exchange

Say hello to my new friend - the desktop studio (a.k.a. light tent kit):

Greg got this for me so that I could take pictures of smaller stuff - cards, pottery, layouts, etc.

Since I went to a card exchange on Friday night (theme: "Falloween"), I utilized the light tent kit to photograph the cards exchanged:

Here is the card project that we made - it's all fancy and interactive because when you pull out one side of the insert, both sides come out. I didn't finish the card because I wanted to use it as a template for future cards.

Lastly, here's the card I made for the exchange. I wasn't keen on the Halloween theme, so I went the Fall route.

Peanut and Monkey

The U of A equivalent to ASU's Mill Avenue is University Boulevard (Mill Ave is much better). A lot of new stores have opened on University since we moved from Tucson - it's gone through sort of a "revitalization."

When our friends, Mike and Mikah, were about to have their first baby, they wanted the gender to be a surprise, so they never found out the sex, alternatively referring to the baby as "Peanut." So, when we saw this baby shirt at Blue Monkey Trading Co. - which is a new store that opened on University - it was a done deal!

We also got this monkey shirt - Mikah had a jungle theme going for her baby stuff, so we thought it fitting:

Weekend in Tucson

Greg and I went to Tucson this weekend to hang out, see friends, and eat at our favorite restaurants.

We stayed a couple nights at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. It was really nice - we never stayed there as students (maybe because we had no money?), but summer rates were pretty good (for the resort).

Gigantic tub!

TV in the bathroom? It is Shark Week on Discovery Channel . . .

The observation deck overlooking Tucson:

The resort is in north Tucson and is right up against the desert. Our room had desert view from the front door and the patio. It was pretty sweet.

We planned our meals in Tucson to hit up can't-find-in-Phoenix restaurants (yummy!):
Friday dinner: Frog & Firkin
Saturday lunch: Susie's Cafe
Saturday dinner: Zachary's Pizza
Sunday lunch: Miss Saigon

We might make this an annual weekend getaway . . .
